Pilkington plc Acquires License from Research Frontiers for SPD-Smart Light Control Technology Used in Smart Windows and Other Products

Pilkington plc, one of the world's largest flat glass manufacturers, has been granted a world-wide non-exclusive license by Research Frontiers Incorporated to work with its SPD-Smart(TM) light-control technology and to provide lamination and other services to Research Frontiers licensees for use in a variety of SPD-Smart glass and plastic products.

Other terms of the license and Pilkington's specific product development plans have not been disclosed.


In an SPD-Smart window, sunroof, or other product, the user can manually or automatically "tune" the amount of light, glare and heat coming into a home, office, or vehicle.
