PGT lays off 150 workers

About 150 PGT Industries Inc. employees were laid off today, according to the company president. The company called the layoffs a "restructuring" as a result of an analysis of its target markets, internal structure, projected run-rate and efficiency.

PGT’s workforce, which was about 1,500 employees was decreased, by approximately 10 percent. PGT of Venice calls itself the nation’s leading manufacturer and supplier of residential impact-resistant windows and doors.According to its Web site, PGT is one of the largest window and door manufacturers in the United States.
