Joint industry initiative grows waste-glass recovery more than 20%

Nonprofit organisation The Glass Recycling Company (GRC) has grown levels of waste glass recovery in South Africa by 24% in its first year of operation. “In the year to June 2006, prior to our commencing operations, 148 000 t of glass was recovered for recycling in South Africa.

In the financial year ending June 2007, we increased that to 183 000 t,” says MD Shabeer Jhetam of the company’s success.
