glasstec 2014 wrap-up

Date: 12 November 2014

With its 1,217 exhibitors and 43,000 visitors from over 85 countries, glasstec 2014 in Dusseldorf, Germany was the place to be this October.

Innovations in glass could be seen throughout the show including innovations in digital glass printing.

One of the main attractions at glasstec, was the “glass technology live show”. Hard to miss due to its sheer size, was a single digitally printed glass panel that stood at an incredible 11.3 x 3m (37.1 x 9.8ft) printed by Dip-Tech’s friend and partner sedak GmbH & Co. KG of Germany. Dip-Tech, and Tianjin Northglass Industrial Co., Ltd in China, also showcased digitally printed XL format glass panels, each with their own unique design and use of printing techniques.

A magnificent “glass dolphin, produced by our friends at JYC Safety Glass with a unique glass printing technique, was also on display at the “glass technology live show”. Dip-Tech partner, AGC Interpane, also highlighted unique products that combine innovative technology and attractive design including “Dragontrail X”. A chemically strengthened glass, used in the glass roofs for the players’ benches at the 2014 World Cup, Dragontrail X combines high strength and durability in a large format. Dragontrail X, though light and thin, is eight times stronger than typical soda-lime glass.

This is just a tiny taste of the incredible glass innovations and glass technology seen at glasstec 2014.  To follow more glass innovations including the fascinating story of how the digital glass printers were developed in order to print on such large panels of glass visit World Glass Innovations website.
