Visitors to the HEGLA stand at glasstec were given a rare opportunity to witness flat glass machining live.

A cutting solution for laminated glass and another for float glass were brought along specially to the trade fair in Düsseldorf and were set up at the heart of the stand. HEGLA used this combination of systems to demonstrate cutting solutions which are compact and which use ressources efficiently. The ReMaster contributes towards the highly efficient use of materials in both. It stores remnant plates above the cutting system until such time as they can be used effectively for further cuts.  The Sorting System SortJet has been integrated to ensure a continuous flow of material from the float glass cutting line to the insulated glass production unit. The sheets of glass are collected from the intermediate store in the SortJet and are transferred to the insulating glass line in the correct production sequence and layer orientation as soon as all the panes for an insulated glass unit are available. The glass transfer is continuous. There is no longer any need for manual handling.

One of the features of the laminated glass cutting line attracted much attention. An automatic cullet disposal unit crushes trims and transports them to a container positioned nearby.

Shape Cutting of Laminated Glass

The ProLam Plus, a newly developed model cutting system for laminated glass, proved to be a popular attraction with the public. During the trade fair, visitors witnessed demonstrations of automatic cuts of circles or models in laminated glass. As HEGLA managing director Manfred Vollbracht explains, "not only did we want to talk about the cutting accuracy, we also wanted everyone to see just where the advantages of this new solution lie".

Optimax Cutting Line with Laser Marking

An Optimax Plus-series cutting system with an additional feature for laser marking also attracted particular attention on the HEGLA stand. This technology allows labelling, numbering or logos to be applied around the edge of the surface of the glass, whether it be for allocating a sorting or storage space number or for applying the manufacturer's logo. The laser technology is also used outside the edge area to apply the Tempered Glass stamp.

From the area of plant technology, HEGLA unveiled a coater peripheral with two underfloor stackers. HEGLA showcased its competence in handling with two robots and a pick-on-the-fly demo sequence.

Manfred Vollbracht from HEGLA was very pleased with the glasstec and with the interest expressed by visitors. "We were right to decide to demonstrate complete systems and machines at the glasstec. Our stand was well attended at the trade fair, and the discussions with our customers were also extremely positive.  We were also able to provide one of the special highlights of the trade fair this time around with the demonstration of model cutting in laminated glass. The feedback from our customers leaves us feeling positive about our prospects in 2013."

Commenting on the cooperation with Bystronic glass, Mr. Vollbracht said: "We managed to demonstrate at the glasstec that the partnership with our preferred partner is operating at all levels and yielding excellent results."
