An East Yorkshire glass factory has announced a £30m investment in energy-saving glass manufacturing that will create 50 jobs.

Goole-based Guardian Industries said the new facility will make products to help customers meet new legislation on greenhouse gas emissions.

The plant will produce coated glass that lets the sun's rays in and keeps heat inside the building.

The Goole factory was opened in 2003 by a US company and employs 280 people.

The specially coated glass will be used in homes and offices.

In 2009 the EU committed member countries to a 20% cut in CO2 emissions by 2020, from 1990 levels.
