United States Department of Commerce District Export Councils exist nationally and serve to provide leadership and international trade expertise on the exporting process to complement the U.S. Commercial Service’s efforts.
“Ramsey is active in the exporting community, and has personally developed programs for Edgetech that have been invaluable to our global expansion,” said Mike Hovan, President, Edgetech I.G. “We are very proud that he has been elected to this prestigious position and congratulate him on his many accomplishments.”
Bader was nominated for this position by the Columbus Commercial Service Director and the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, who makes the final decision on all members. In his position as council member, Bader will work with the U.S. Department of Commerce to promote international trade and the awareness of exporting to small- and medium-sized Ohio companies, as well as address legislative issues that are important to trade and exporting in Ohio.
Bader joined Edgetech in 2003 after earning his MBA in International Business from the University of Akron, Akron, Ohio. Prior to joining Edgetech, he held international positions in Bahrain and Dubai, and earned accreditation as a Certified Global Business Professional. In addition to his new position as member of the Export Council, Bader is actively involved in other local organizations, including the Ohio Department of Development, International Trade Division; and the Tuscarawas International Trade Forum.
About Department of Commerce District Export Councils
Department of Commerce District Export Councils (DECs) throughout the United States are organizations of exporters and public and private export service providers who volunteer to share their trade-related expertise to local small- and medium-sized firms interested in exporting. Members come from a variety of international business venues, such as manufacturing; service industries; export trading companies; bankers; U.S. Small Business Administration; state and local government agencies; international lawyers and accountants; freight forwarders; and representatives from world trade centers, chambers of commerce, and export management companies. DECs are closely affiliated with the U.S. Commercial Service's U.S. Export Assistance Centers located throughout the United States.
