Booth Highlights

Fuel efficiency, driver comfort improved with Saflex S series Solar Absorbing PVB for automobiles

Saflex® S series represents an award winning breakthrough in the automotive industry, with the introduction of a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayers that effectively absorb solar heat transmitted through the vehicle's glazing, which reduces air conditioning usage and improves vehicle fuel economy and CO2 emissions. Saflex S has been recognized by consulting firm Frost & Sullivan with the 2012 New Product Innovation Award for Automotive Glazing Material. Saflex S series also garnered the Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation, marking the first time an automotive-grade PVB has been recognized for its ability to block 99%+ of UVA and UVB radiation.

Saflex S series interlayers are also available in an acoustic version, Saflex Q Series Solar. The interlayer provides a threefold benefit by blocking solar UV and IR (heat), while reducing noise that enters the vehicle through the glass. Reduced cabin noise from wind noise and other external sources allows hands-free phone systems, voice-activated and other specially tuned audio systems to work more effectively. Visitors can experience the solar heat reduction with a demonstration showcasing the benefits of Saflex S series advanced solar absorbing interlayers and the company's newly acquired XIR reflective films.

Saflex DG Structural PVB Gives Designers New Choices for Glass Applications

With new structural interlayers from Saflex, glass can now be effectively used in a variety of structural applications, including exposed edge laminates, floors, stairs, balconies, canopies, point glazing systems, clip systems, captured systems, curtain wall, sloped and overhead glazing. Saflex DG structural PVB is designed specifically for applications in which increased interlayer rigidity and high glass adhesion are required relative to standard glazing interlayers. With Saflex DG, laminates can sustain higher uniform loads with the same glass thickness, or the glass thickness can be reduced and still achieve the same loading.

Quiet, Please

Saflex Q series is an advanced acoustic interlayer used for architectural and automotive glazing applications. It allows laminators to produce glass laminates with enhanced acoustical properties compared to laminates made with standard polyvinyl butyral (PVB).Visitors will able to "hear the difference" that Saflex Q series makes in architectural glazing applications with an interactive exhibit.
