The NSG Group has announced  plans to close its Automotive glazing plant in Eisenerz, Austria. The decision was taken because of rapidly deteriorating conditions in the European automotive industry, which have led to a sharp reduction in orders.

Employee representatives and employees were informed of the decision on November 27, 2008.

The closure affects 69 employees at the Eisenerz plant, where the Group's automotive business line, Pilkington Automotive, produces windshields for the Automotive OE and aftermarket sectors. A detailed schedule for the closure will be prepared within the next few weeks.
