Agr International, Inc. acquires West Analytical Laboratories

Date: 6 October 2010

Agr International Inc. announced the recent acquisition of West Analytical Laboratories. In an agreement with West Pharmaceuticals, Agr International purchased the Maumee, Ohio (USA) laboratory services division.

This facility specializes in compositional analysis on behalf of packaging, architectural and solar industries.

Agr International will maintain the Ohio-based facility and operate it as part of its American Glass Research division. The facility includes a 14,000 sq. ft. analytical laboratory that is fully equipped and is ISO 17025 accredited. The acquisition brings with it a staff of experienced scientists and engineers with expertise in material and compositional analysis. With this move, Agr will be able to expand its core offerings to include testing services for raw material composition, glass composition, heavy metal testing, contamination and USP/EP testing as well as related services. With the combination of the resources of West Analytical Laboratories and American Glass research, Agr is now positioned to offer a long list of “extended” services to the global packaging industry.

The acquisition of West Laboratories is the latest event in Agr’s expansion of services provided by American Glass Research. In 2008, Agr opened a regional test center in Europe under the Agr Container Labs name. According to Henry Dimmick (Agr CEO) and Bob Cowden (Agr COO), the recent expansion and acquisition are part of their long-term plan to provide the highest level of service and support to a growing international customer base. “This acquisition is a logical fit for Agr’s American Glass Research Division. The capabilities and know how now available to us through West Analytical Labs will enable us to expand our services for the glass industry well beyond container glass and into additional areas, “ cited Henry Dimmick, Agr’s CEO. Cowden adds, “Toledo is centrally located in proximity to significant sources of packaging research and development as well as manufacturing. We are excited by the growth prospects associated with this strategic acquisition.”

The headquarters for American Glass Research and its parent, AGR International, Inc., is located in Butler, PA USA. American Glass Research offers an array of services to the glass industry.
