Self-cleaning glass: Activ vs. Bioclean

I am about to renovate an existing conservatory and am considering self-cleaning glass for the job. I am torn between Pilkington "ACTIV" and Saint Gobain "BIOCLEAN". Can anyone please comment on which I should use ? Thanks.

Robert--thanks again. Yes I would love a forum debate on the self cleaning glasses Activ and Bioclean. It would help my decision.

Good question! The reason is that the glass company I know, works with SGG glasses. I know how works BIOCLEAN, but I'm sure that also Activ is at the same level. From my point of view is much important to find the rightest company/installator, because this types of glass are very delicate....

Robert--thank you. Can I ask why you chose to use Bioclean as opposed to Activ ?

There are 2 type of this so called "Self Cleaning" glass, there is the Hydrophilic and the other is Hydrophobic. ACTIV and BIOCLEAN falls on the first type, which means that first the coating on the glass breaks down natural dirt by the aid of UV rays and when water is applied on the glass surface, it will characteristically sheet all over the glass surface and wash down dirt. Always remember to glaze self cleaning glass on following conditions: a)Vertical or inclined position, not horizontally flat, b) Exposed to sunlight to absorb UV rays, otherwise it will not break down natural dirt. So both of these glasses are fit for use, depending on intended purpose.
