Date: 24 May 2011

THE GROUP’S TARGET MELTING CAPACITY IN THIS YEAR IS 2.61 MILLION TONNES (Hong Kong, 18 May 2011) – Leading integrated high quality float glass, automobile glass, energy saving construction glass and solar glass manufacturer Xinyi Glass Holdings Limited (“Xinyi Glass” or the “Group”) (stock code: 00868) announced that it ignited the furnace for trial run of its third high quality float glass production line at Jiangmen production complex in Guangdong Province, China today.

Boasting a daily melting capacity of 900 tonnes, the new line is expected to commence commercial production in July this year.

Xinyi Glass is a major supplier of high quality float glass in China and its production capacity exceeds all other industry players in Guangdong Province. To meet the enormous demand in automobile glass from the global market, and construction glass from property projects managed by the Chinese government and private developers, the Group is expanding its production capacity of float glass, which is a major raw material of its automobile glass and construction glass products. The additional capacity is aimed to address its business expansion in the three major economic zones in China. The Group plans to increase the number of high quality float glass production lines in China to a total of 14 within this year, raising its annual melting capacity to 2.61 million tonnes, a surge of 75% when compared with 2010.

Moreover, in the third quarter of this year, the Group’s Jiangmen production complex will be converted to use natural gas as a key fuel, which is more environmentally friendly. By then, the high quality float glass and solar glass production lines at all production complexes of the Group will be fuelled by natural gas to attain a higher level of energy and cost efficiency.
