Rolltech celebrates 25 years production of everlasting spacers

Date: 3 August 2011

Rolltech was founded in 1986 and now produces well over one Million meter of warm edge spacers every week.

That makes Rolltech one of the world leading warm edge producers; a remarkable result that further confirms the high demand for the company's products.

The strong market demand for Rolltech’s spacer bars derives from a simple strategy the company has been focusing on ever since the day it was founded. "Customer oriented service, top quality products with short and flexible lead times" – states Lars Knudsen, Rolltech's Managing Director – “Our company constantly strives to improve its performance and services, to continue satisfying and expanding our loyal customer base".

Rolltech's success story started in Hjørring back in 1986, when it was founded by three former employees of Interal with the purpose of producing aluminum and galvanized steel spacers for the insulated glass industry. Initially the spacers were marketed within Scandinavia, Germany and the countries along its borders. After a few years, as the sales territory grew and the business became more specialized, Rolltech decided to focus on improving product performance and started manufacturing warm edge stainless steel spacer bars, to further expand its European market presence.

The year 2001 marks two important events in the company's history: a partnership with Alu-Pro and the launch of Chromatech Plus. This innovatively shaped spacer bar, made of special stainless steel, conducted less heat transfer and further increased thermal insulation performance ratings while being one of the most stable spacers in the world. This evolution and the collaboration with Alu-Pro allowed the company to start selling products in Eastern European Countries and further expand its Southern European sales and distribution network. Today, Rolltech continues to represent the most advanced technology in the insulating glass spacer bars sector: Chromatech Ultra, the stainless steel spacer bar with special plastic top launched in 2009, continues to be used by new customers every month.

“Rolltech products have always been developed and manufactured based on the latest technology" – continues Lars Knudsen - “the patented design and specific process used to manufacture our newest product, Chromatech Ultra, guarantee top quality performance of the end product, low labor cost and superior production capacity. This ensures our customers high productivity and best materials at competitive prices.”

The environment is very important for Rolltech. All stainless steel spacer bars are produced by about 60 % recycled material and the material is 100 % recyclable. These spacers have the thermal properties closest to glass of any warm edge spacer, which ensures a minimum of stress on the sealant and thereby ensures the longest possible lifetimes for the IG units. As any warm edge spacer stainless steel spacers reduce CO2 emission and condensation on IG units significantly. Rolltech have a unique recycling system for the lubricant alcohol used in the production ensuring minimum evaporation of harmful gases while preserving natural reserves.

In total perspective all this probably makes warm edge spacers from Rolltech the most energy effective spacers in the world. Rolltech distributes its products through local partners and the Glass Alliance network. The Company's central European market presence continues to increase at a remarkable pace, with excellent growth perspectives within Eastern Europe, the US, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
