Price of of glass is set to go up in 2003

Fuyao Glass Co held a meeting at Tongliao city with its major customers. This meeting was concluded successfully on 14 Feb.

It is decided in the meet that the price of 4mm flint float will be raised to 12 Yuan per sq m for regular customers and 12.50 Yuan per sq m for walk-in customers with immediate effect. This is limited to only 9000 tons of stock. From 1 March, the price will be adjusted 0.5yuan upward for every cycle of 15 days. The balance of the stock will be released for sale in Sep when the price is expected to peak countrywide.

It is reported that Shanxi ShenMu JingNiu Glass Ltd is selling its 4mm float at 11 Yuan compared to 9.70 Yuan just before the Chinese New Year. The price of 5mm is going at 13.50 Yuan. It was 12.50 before Chinese New Year. Moreover, the company has stopped collecting deposit from traders, a sign of further price increase next week.

In Qinghuandao, most glass factories led by Yaohua Glass Corporation, have decided to increase their price tag next week.

It is foreseeable that the prices of glass are recovering very strongly in 2003.
