PPG publishes data sheet for improved SOLARPHIRE PV photovoltaic glass

Date: 17 May 2011

PPG Industries has published a data sheet for SOLARPHIRE(R) PV (Solarphire PV PDS_FINAL.pdf) photovoltaic glass that details improvements in solar transmittance announced earlier this year.

Because of its enhanced ultralow iron formulation and proprietary glass chemistry, Solarphire PV glass provides high transmittance across the entire solar spectrum and increased solar transmittance in the near-infrared band. In thicknesses of 3.2 and 4.0 millimeters, Solarphire PV glass transmits up to 91 percent of total solar energy, which can enhance the performance of solar energy collection components equipped with this glass.

The one-page data sheet provides information on the mechanical, thermal and chemical properties of Solarphire PV glass, as well as solar performance values and designated transmittance levels across the solar spectrum from 300 to 2,500 nanometers.

Solarphire PV glass is available with anti-reflective and corrosion-retardant coatings to satisfy the specific performance requirements of component manufacturers.

Visit www.ppgsolarphire.com to download the new Solarphire PV glass data sheet, or call 1-888-PPG- SUN1 (774-7886) to order a hard copy.
