Pleotint, LLC, the world’s top innovator in self-tinting dynamic glass, announced that the Suntuitive® interlayer is now listed on the National Fenestration Rating Council’s (NFRC) Approved Interlayer List for laminated glass.

According to Chad Simkins, vice president of Pleotint, the most common way for fenestration products to receive NFRC-certified ratings is through a simulation process, and only interlayers that are on the Approved Interlayer List can be used in the simulations.“Having the Suntuitive interlayer included on the list is important to us on many levels,” Simkins said. “It will not only benefit manufacturers that want to offer Suntuitive glass in their windows, doors, and skylights, but most importantly, it will allow consumers to make informed decisions and provide assurance that the products will perform as advertised.”Under the NFRC’s rating program, fenestration products are independently tested, certified, and labeled to show if they meet or exceed building energy codes. The labels provide performance ratings, such as U-factor, Solar Heat Gain Coefficient, Visible Transmittance, Sound Transmission Class, and Air Leakage. NFRC ratings also are required for products to receive ENERGY STAR® certification.

The Suntuitive interlayer is North America’s first commercially available interlayer for laminated glass that gradually darkens in response to rising temperatures caused by direct sunlight, then cools as the sun moves across the sky, returning to a clear, neutral state in cloudy or dark environmental conditions.
