THE EXHIBIT “HABITUS” IS ON SHOW UNTIL 28 SEPTEMBER.
As a dialogue between the architect and the possibilities of PRIVA-LITE technology® developed by QUANTUM GLASS (a glass which transforms instantaneously from transparent to translucent and vice versa!), the “Habitus” installation transports visitors into a scenography in perpetual change. It is an experience expressing notions of rhythm, intimacy and social representaion.
Referring to the sociologist Pierre Bourdieu’s work, Christian Biecher brings together these themes in his installation “Habitus”: an ever changing scenography or a microarchitectural installation in a landscaped sequence which the visitor is drawn across to discover a dynamic space. His changing architectural world modifies the traditional perception of space and transports us into a living architectural installation.

PRIVA-LITE Technology
Controllable transparent glazing for managing privacy and space
PRIVA-LITE technology is laminated glazing made up of a liquid crystal matrix which is controlled by electrical impulse and can therefore change instantaneously from transparent to translucent and vice versa. Connected to a simple switch or to motion sensors, it is possible to control the transparency of the glazing on demand. PRIVA-LITE technology is also an amazing surface for projecting pictures or videos.

A space for inspiration and experimentation dedicated to glass and innovation
QUANTUM GLASS, a Saint-Gobain brand specalising in hybrid glass, created “A Glass House”. An experimental space in the heart of Paris which welcomes architects, designers, builders and end-users to discover the multiple possibilities that its innovative glass can offer. Visitors can therefore see, touch and experience the emotions provided by these intelligent and eco-efficient technologies.

CHRISTIAN BIECHER
The architect Christian Biecher graduated in 1989 from l’École nationale supérieure d’architecture (National Higher Education Institution for Architecture) at Paris-Belleville, belongs to a generation of designers who recognize that many different disciplines overlap. Winner of the “Albums de la jeune architecture” prize, awarded to young architectural talent, in 1993 and elected Designer of the Year in 2002 (Maison&Objet, Paris), the Minister of Culture presented him with the insignia of the Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Mérite in 2009.
Christian Biecher is the designer of many buildings in France and abroad, including the “Bibliothèque départementale” (Library) in Carcassonne, the Tur building in Tokyo (2004) and Sora building in Shiki (2005), the department store Harvey Nichols in Hong Kong (2004), the Fauchon building in Casablanca (2010) and re- cently the renovation of the Budapest Stock Exchange (2011).
Currently the Christian Biecher agency is working on the design of a group of office buildings in Prague, apartments in Marseille and Strasbourg and a 4 star hotel in Paris. (Place de la porte de Vanves).
