Materials In Focus On Stock Moves -Traders

Date: 10 August 2005

UK materials stocks are in focus as share prices of both Pilkington (PILK.LN) and Wolseley (WOS) attract attention, say traders.

Cite recurring bid talk in the former as reason the stock is higher, although an analyst points out that the stock has a high yield, which is also a supportive factor. Wolseley's weakness, on the other hand, can be attributed to its exposure to the US housing market, which is facing rising long rates, he adds. Pilkington +2.8% at 128p, Wolseley -2.5% at 1140p.
