JSC “Valmieras stikla šķiedra” establishes its’ first U.S. manufacturing facility in Laurens Country

Gov. of Georgia Nathan Deal announced today that JSC “Valmieras stikla šķiedra” will locate its’ first U.S. manufacturing facility in Dublin, Laurens County.

In this U.S. based manufacturing facility it is planned to create 150 jobs and investing $20 million within five years.  

Valmiera Glass USA Corp. will locate on 40-acres in an Industrial Park on I-16 in Dublin, Ga. The approximately 80,000-square-foot (~7.4 Thousand square-meter) facility will manufacture higher, value-added fiberglass products for the North American market. Because the manufacturing process is highly automated, the company will require well-trained candidates and the newly created jobs will be well-paid. Valmiera Glass USA Corp. will also take advantage of QuickStart, Georgia’s top-ranked workforce training program.

“The new headquarter and manufacturing facility in the United States is a customer-oriented business development step. Valmiera Glass Group sales increases in North America every year, 14% of the total turnover of the company are exported directly to the United States and Canada. Now we will ensure that the products are available closer to the customer, the products will fall out of schedule, long-term profitability will increase and we will have a chance to develop closer partnerships with our key customers. The manufacturing facility in the USA gives us new opportunities for business growth and will strengthen Valmiera Glass Group positions in the market of glass fiber products all over the world,” said Andre Heinz Schwiontek, the Board Member and Vice President of JSC “Valmieras stikla šķiedra”.

“A highly educated workforce is critical for high-tech companies such as Valmiera Glass,” said GDEcD Commissioner Chris Carr. “Without question, Georgia’s advanced labor pool, combined with an interconnected transportation infrastructure and one of the fastest growing container ports in North America, the Port of Savannah, will provide the support that Valmiera Glass needs in order to better reach the North American market.”

As already the management of JSC “Valmieras stikla šķiedra” has informed, the planned production start of Valmiera Glass USA Corp. is in the first quarter of 2015, firstly investing USD 6.5 Million (EUR 4.8 Million). It is planned that the company will produce the products with higher added value.
