GV Helps Manchester Youth Centre Win 2 Awards

Date: 13 August 2012

Main contractor City Build and architects Bradshaw Gass & Hope LLP use bespoke design and installation service of Glazing Vision to win two awards for Youth Intervention Centre in Manchester.

With awards for ‘Best Commercial Building’ and the ultimate prize of ‘Building of the Year’ Glazing Vision (GV) provided expert design, manufacture and installation services to City Build after in-depth contractual negotiations and protracted technical feasibility meetings.David Hamer, Partner at Bradshaw Gass & Hope said “the collaboration and cooperation between all parties involved with the project contributed to the buildings’ success”.Providing a serious challenge to the GV team because of the overall architectural design of the building, templates were made after numerous site surveys and it was decided the best possible product was an eaves roof light variation on their trademarked FlushGlaze system.Over a two day period, GV had to arrange for specialist lifting equipment due to the size, weight and angles of installation as the length of the horizontal section was approximately eighteen metres, split into five sections with silicon seals at the joins and the vertical section was six metres. Both double glazed areas had laminated inners.

All the projects entered into the awards were of exceptional quality showing how the judges had such a tough time finding an overall winner. The judging panel led by Ewen Miller, President of the MSA described the design as “an entertaining and popular choice making a truly positive contribution to the local community”.

GV work with many standard, classic and complicated contemporary architectural designs and their field of industry knowledge helps them to not only provide a smooth and effective glazing design, build and installation process but also to lead the industry with new innovations and manufacturing standards.
