FGS complements Glass Alliance's range of warm edge products

Date: 12 November 2012

Glasstec 2012 will provide a unique stage for the official presentation of the latest entry by the Glass Alliance network.

The product  being premiered, called Flexible Glass Spacer (FGS), is a new flexible spacer for IG glass that combines the top performance of warm edge spacers with easy IG glass production.

Featuring a special structure, FGS is essentially composed of flexible, highly adjustable and resistant olefin fibers to ensure compatibility with the other chemical components. Its multi-layer film offers an innovative barrier to water vapor and argon gas and ensures perfect adhesion of edge sealants while its acrylic adhesive pre-applied on both shoulders provides for easy and accurate positioning of the spacer.

FGS offers several benefits to the entire window and frame unit.

First, being a warm edge spacer, it minimizes heat loss through the edge of the IG unit, thereby significantly reducing condensation at the edge. Its improved thermal transmission coefficient greatly contributes to the insulation of the unit and frame and its low Psi value leads to average savings of up to 0.1-0.2 W/m2K on the overall U values of the IG unit, with more comfort being offered near the window.

Furthermore, FGS  is made of special materials that offer maximum resistance to UV and low temperatures as well as great stability at high temperatures.

FGS helps to further simplify and automate insulating glass production, as the product application is fast and accurate thanks to the special desiccants it contains  and to the acrylic adhesive pre-applied on both shoulders. The composition with unique desiccants also minimizes absorption of moisture during the assembly process.

Its special moisture barrier foil guarantees superior gas retention and perfect adhesion of all sealant types. Finally, FGS guarantees the best dimensional tolerances in its class and thus improves productivity, especially when dealing with triple-glazed units.

FGS is available in black or grey and complies with EN 1279 standards, sustainable energy development programs and Passive House standards.

In short, FGS is synonymous with production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
