November/December 2008 — Glassmakers face daily manufacturing challenges with ongoing pressures for increased efficiency and cost reduction.

Now they have two new quality assurance tools that will increase their plant automation efficiency and reduce costs…the Flexinspect BC and Flexinspect M, from Emhart Inex brand of Cold End Inspection equipment.

The Flexinspect BC performs base and finish inspection, plus sidewall, dimensional, and stress inspection in a combined “one box” modular design that offers the flexibility to add more inspections to the existing platform as required. Manufacturers can purchase this modular system with one or both inspection modules based on current needs, ensuring future flexibility as their requirements change. The Flexinspect M Check Detector performs conventional check inspection, heel dot code mold number defect correlation, plus vision plug, dip and ring inspections, delivering a comprehensive solution for confirming container attributes and verifying manufacturing standards. True to its name, the Flexinspect M provides total flexibility to run a wide range of ware sizes at production speeds to 400 bpm. A menu of optional inspections allows glassmakers to modify their system for individual requirements.

The Flexinspect product line gives glassmakers the tools to compete in today’s highly competitive and evolving marketplace, and it is destined to enhance the quality and integrity of glassmakers’ products for decades to come.
