Continuing its long-standing commitment to innovation, today EFCO  Corp. announced that 423 new BIM models are now available for its various products.

Based in Monett, Missouri, EFCO is one of the world's leading manufacturers of  architectural aluminum windows, curtain walls, storefronts and entrance systems for  commercial architectural applications.

"We are excited to add these new models to our company's library," said Dave Hewitt,  EFCO's director of marketing. "EFCO is the first and only commercial manufacturer in  our industry to make a large assortment of product details and configurations available in  BIM – and we are proud of that."

EFCO began offering BIM options in early 2006, and is considered one of the industry's  "early adopters" of the technology. Today, its models can be accessed through  BIMWorld, McGraw-Hill's Sweets Network and Google's 3D Warehouse.

"BIM is dramatically increasing in popularity and usage," said Hewitt. "There are several  advantages provided by modeling buildings. Some of these include a significant cost  reduction in change orders— as a single change can be instantly replicated throughout the  building—instant identification of material conflicts and greatly enhanced client visual  presentations."

"EFCO demonstrated some of our BIM models at the 2007 CSI Show in Baltimore, and  the reception was outstanding," added Hewitt. "By providing these models to the  architectural community, EFCO enhances a designer's ability to quickly change parts  from a large library of available profiles in order to achieve a unique look or solve a  design challenge specific to the project."
