Arkema pre-announces at Glasstec a major innovation for the glass manufacturing industry

Arkema, a global leader in the glass container coating technology, is taking part in the 2012 Glasstec tradefair in Düsseldorf (Germany) from October 23rd to 26th.

Glasstec is the ideal showcase for Arkema to pre-announce to its glassmaking customers a major innovation in the field of glass coating technologies, due to be officially launched and marketed in 2013.

Arkema has over 30 years of glass container coating expertise with its Certincoat® and Tegoglas® products, and stands out thanks to its unique position of “supplier-partner” by supplying a broad portfolio of glass coating products worldwide, together with high-quality coating equipment and maintenance service for its customers. This “three-in-one offer” enables Arkema to satisfy all the requirements of glassmakers in terms of quality, safety and cost.

Having successfully established these technologies, Arkema then shifted its focus to coating issues within the glass filling industry. Industrial research and development produced innovative leading technologies, including chemicals branded under the names Kercoat® and Opticoat®, for the fillers market. These well-established technologies now lead the way in industrial standards.

Three years ago Arkema launched an ambitious R&D program to develop a breakthrough in advanced application technologies for the glass manufacturing industry. Thanks to its broad expertise and knowledge of customers needs, this research has resulted in brand new and innovative solutions, both technological and chemical, to improve the quality of glass bottle coatings.

We are in our final testing phase. Our innovations should be a major breakthrough for glass manufacturers who now seek higher quality coatings, while production rates on production lines intensify. We will be planning visits to glass manufacturers’ plants within the first half of the year when we will unveil these key technologies" said Marc Maggiani, Worldwide Glass Coating Manager.

Arkema is global leader in the glass container coating technology. The Certincoat® Hot-End Coating process is the market leader in the hot-end coating of newly formed glass containers. With the addition of Tegoglas® Cold-End Coating products over the Certincoat® layer, highly scratch-resistant and durable surfaces are created to strengthen and improve the performance of glass containers.

A global chemical company and France’s leading chemicals producer, Arkema is building the future of the chemical industry every day. Deploying a responsible, innovation-based approach, we produce state-of-the-art specialty chemicals that provide customers with practical solutions to such challenges as climate change, access to drinking water, the future of energy, fossil fuel preservation and the need for lighter materials. With operations in more than 40 countries, some 14,000 employees and 10 research centers, Arkema should generate annual revenue of approximately €6.5 billion, and holds leadership positions in all its markets with a portfolio of internationally recognized brands.
