Ardagh Glass becomes supplier of the year

Date: 9 April 2010

Ardagh Glass, one of Europe’s leading glass packaging manufacturers, has been awarded the overall “Supplier of the Year” accolade from international whisky firm, The Edrington Group.

The award was presented to the company at a special ceremony at the Scotch Whisky Experience in Edinburgh.  The overall winner, chosen from 5 Gold award category winners, reflects not only the overall excellence of performance throughout the year but also the accomplishment of something particularly outstanding.  It was the first time that this prestigious award has been presented to a glass packaging manufacturer, an achievement that particularly pleased The Edrington Group’s Supply Chain Director, David Donaldson."MsoNormal" style="LINE-HEIGHT: 150%; mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto">In presenting the award, he stated: “ Ardagh manufactures a very complex product that performs consistently on our lines. Their overall account management is excellent; proactive and clearly takes our vendor rating process seriously, helping it drive their business forward. When our demand forecasts change they are typically ‘fleet of foot’ and manage to maintain leading customer service levels.

They provide an excellent sales and technical response to our enquiries and queries, and their internal and external communications are first-class. They have been enthusiastic in diversifying their business as we grow, using their design centre to help secure some sizeable export business for our Brugal brand that is bottled in the Dominican Republic. Finally they offer competitive pricing.”

Ardagh Glass has become an increasingly important supplier to The Edrington Group over the past three years. From its specialist spirits plant in Irvine, Ayrshire, the company is now a key supplier of glass packaging for world famous Edrington brands such as The Famous Grouse and Cutty Sark.

“We are proud to receive this award, which recognises both the quality of the product that we manufacture for The Edrington Group, and all aspects of customer service,” says Ray Blackwell, Director of Operations at Ardagh’s Irvine plant.

He added: “This year’s achievement is doubly pleasing, as both a measure of how we have improved, and the value of a real team effort that reflects  the dedication we all show to meeting and exceeding our customers’ requirements.”
