The National Fenestration Rating Council's (NFRC) spring meeting began today at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville, Tenn.

Joe Hayden of Pella, NFRC chairman of the board, welcomed attendees during this morning's opening session. He used the opportunity to express appreciation to Marcia Falke of Keystone Certifications, outgoing NFRC chairperson, and also recognize 12 first-time meeting attendees. In addition, Hayden announced that NFRC has gained 34 new members in the past year.

Hayden, who took over as chairman last December, also talked about some of what he would like to accomplish in his new position. His list includes completing current projects (such as the council's Component Modeling Approach [CMA] and implementation of insulating glass [IG] certification) and starting new projects, including taking a close look at Building Information Modeling (BIM). He described BIM as "an evolutionary, living breathing interactive model of a building," and the next generation of CAD. Another new project in consideration is pursuing ANSI accreditation.
