New Recruit to Drive Growth and Beatson Clark

Date: 18 May 2012

Glass manufacturer Beatson Clark has appointed a new account manager to drive growth for the business through their distributor network at home and overseas.

Jonathan Clark took up his new role at the end of April and has taken over management of Beatson Clark’s export accounts as well as those of its UK distributor partners.

Beatson Clark, which has been making glass in South Yorkshire for 260 years, exports approximately 20% of its products to all parts of the world and benefits from an extensive network of key distributors overseas.

Jonathan will also be working closely with the company’s UK distributors who supply a wide variety of Beatson Clark’s general sale items in smaller quantities.

“I am looking forward to building on the strong relationships Beatson Clark has with customers and distributors across the UK and around the world,” said Jonathan.

“My role is to maintain those relationships and develop new ones in order to grow the business both here and overseas.”

Jonathan, 35,  has a degree in Product Design from Leeds Metropolitan University and has been working in the glass industry since 1999.

His first job after leaving university was at Rexam Glass, where he began his career as a product designer and subsequently became New Product Development Project Manager.

“I have a strong background in glass packaging design and a good understanding of the technical issues involved in making glass, which is a great help when dealing with customers and distributors,” he said.

In 2006 Jonathan moved to Proskills UK as a project manager looking after the skills needs and requirements of the process and manufacturing sector, including the glass industry. Three years later he became Yorkshire Regional Manager for the Proskills Academy.

“I enjoyed the work but I really wanted to get back into the glass industry, so this role with Beatson Clark was a perfect opportunity for me,” said Jonathan, who has begun studying for a Diploma in Packaging Technology at The Packaging Society.

Jonathan lives in Dronfield near Sheffield with his wife and two children.
