New end fired furnace for Vidrala Crisnova, Spain

Vidrala S.A. is a Spain-based company engaged in the glass industry. The Company's activities include the production, distribution and sale of high quality glass bottles and containers used in the food and beverages industries.

The Company operates production plants and melting furnaces located in such countries, as Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium and Italy.For the subsidiary company of Vidrala, Crisnova Vidrio S.A., HORN Glass Industries AG made the furnace general repair of furnace No 2.HORN therefore where contracted to redesign the existing container glass furnace mainly to reduce energy consumption and emission values while keeping the same tank capacity. At the end the design of the furnace melting area were improved with modifications in the superstructure and port design.

Together with the complete new Natural Gas firing system and the HORN Dualflame AC burners an ecological and economical optimized furnace could be delivered to Vidrala. The glass itself takes the melting energy not only from fossil fuels but also from electricity. The latter one will be introduced into the furnace by two boosting systems with Molybdenum electrodes. Totally 31 electrodes are installed - 12 laterally in the side walls and 19 vertically in the bottom in front of the barrier wall- to provide the required electric power.

Finally a complete new electric control system with an on top computer supervisory system (SCADA) takes care about the proper operation of the furnace. The screens of the SCADA system are individually designed according the requirements of Vidrala.
