Rotherham-based glass repair and replacement specialist Solaglas Windowcare has made a new appointment to support growth of its national commercial glazing business.

The company, which employs some 400 people and turned over £23.5m last year, has appointed Richard Cocks to manage its southern glazing operation based in Portsmouth.

As commercial branch manager Mr Cocks will manage a team of glaziers and technicians to deliver glazing projects from conception to completion across the south-east and west.

He was previously a glazier with the company having served his apprenticeship 10 years ago. This experience provided him with skills in all aspects of the trade from processing, distribution to contract and replacement glazing.

Managing director, Ian Davy commented: “We aim to build our commercial business in all parts of the country by increasing the volume of glazing replacement work, securing new contracts and growing our overall client base. Richard’s appointment supports this goal.

“I also intend to leverage our powerful parentage and relationships within Saint-Gobain Glass Solutions to capture and retain more business.”

Solaglas Windowcare is an integral part of global giant Saint-Gobain’s UK operation. The company recently announced its intention to grow the business and has launched a new identity in a move to associate itself closer with its French parent.
