Fulltech Fiber Glass, which makes fiber glass yarns and fabrics for PCB bonding sheets and laminates, plans to dedicate half of its capacity to the production of industrial grade fiber glass yarns/fabrics, aiming to become the top vendor in the segment within the next five years, according to company chairman Yuan-Pin Chang.

Vetrotex, Fulltech and PPG Industries are currently the world's top-three vendors for industrial grade fiber glass yarns, with Fulltech holing a 30% share each in the fiber glass yarn market in the US and Europe, Chang noted.

Fulltech, with an annual production capacity for 75,000 tons of electronic grade fiber glass yarns, is also currently the second largest vendor in the electronic glass yarn segment, trailing PFG fiber Glass which has a capacity of 200,000 tons and Taiwan Glass Industry which has an annual capacity of 80,000 tons.

Fulltech plans to ramp up its capacity for electronic grade fiber glass yarns to 81,000 tons by the end of 2011, replacing Taiwan Glass as the second largest vendor in the segment.

Fulltech also plans to build a new plant with a capacity of 800,000 meters of fiber glass fabrics a month, Chang noted.
