Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. (AGC) confirms that its European subsidiary, AGC Automotive  Europe S.A. received a Statement of Objections* on April 20, 2007 from the European  Commission with respect to alleged anticompetitive behavior in the automotive glass  sector in Europe.





The Statement of Objections follows inspections carried out by the European Commission  at the premises of AGC Automotive Europe S.A. on February 22 and 23, 2005.  As a parent company of AGC Automotive Europe S.A., AGC also received the Statement of  Objections on April 23, 2007. Both companies will examine the European Commission’s  preliminary findings as reported in the Statement of Objections and will respond in due  course.

A Statement of Objections is a procedural document whereby the European Commission  communicates its preliminary view in relation to a possible infringement of EU  competition law and allows its addressees to present arguments in response. A Statement  of Objections is a preparatory document that does not prejudge the European  Commission’s final decision. Any final decision by the European Commission is subject to  appeal to the European Courts.
