Patrick Thompson, Vice President of Business and Technology Development of New Energy Technologies, Inc. participated in a panel discussion and presentation at the PV America East 2013 Conference held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on Wednesday, February 6.

PV America is a regionally focused Photovoltaic (PV) Conference that delivers new products; training, education, and networking opportunities; and innovation to companies, research & development institutions, manufacturing facilities, and investors domestically and abroad.Sponsored by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), and the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA), the industry-leading conference PV America attracted more than 4,000 solar industry professionals from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region to explore the latest in solar photovoltaic (PV) products, services and technology.

Mr. Thompson was among five panelists chosen to participate in Custom-by-Design: Where Solar Function Meets Solar Style, a conference session that addressed the hottest issues and challenges of building integrated PV (BIPV) facing the PV industry. Discussions featured architects, designers, manufacturers and developers on how to enhance solar design appeal, while optimizing system performance, keeping costs in line, and playing a key role in a new era of distributed power generation.

Mr. Thompson provided the audience an overview of Solar Window™ technology development and business objectives, discussed overall photovoltaic technology advancement, and shared perspectives how the industry can work together on improving building efficiency and energy autonomy through organic photovoltaic (OPV) systems.

Mr. Thompson also presented to the audience how smart grid technology could benefit from distributed generation. The value of generating power directly where it is used while maintaining an aesthetic design is becoming understood, thereby assisting with mitigating barriers imposed by current BIPV technologies.

SolarWindow™ is a first-of-its-kind technology which enables see-through windows to generate electricity with the Company’s patent-pending electricity-generating coatings. SolarWindow™ technology utilizes an organic solar array composed of a series of ultra-thin layers of small cells. These cells are fabricated using mostly hydrogen-carbon based substances.

New Energy Technologies, Inc. is positioning itself and SolarWindow™ to becoming the standard for advanced window technology for high-grade office buildings and skyscrapers. The replacement or retrofit of the current stock of windows with the advanced SolarWindow™ may result in an energy offset contribution to the overall energy equation.

About PV America East 2013

PV America East is presented by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) ® and Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) ®, whose combined efforts have created a world-class, regionally focused and vertically integrated event for installers, designers and suppliers of photovoltaic (PV) technology and services. Unlike other PV conferences, all proceeds support the expansion of the U.S. solar energy market through SEIA’s and SEPA’s year-round research and education activities, as well as SEIA’s® advocacy efforts.
