Union warns of action over changes to Pilkington pension scheme

Trade union leaders have warned St Helens glassmaker Pilkington that staff are prepared to strike over changes to their company pension.

Unite the Union claims the company, owned by Japanese parent Nippon Sheet Glass, is attempting to bully and intimidate its members our of their pensions.It says Pilkington wants to freeze pensionable pay at workers’ salary level as of April 30, 2013, which, it claims, would erode the past and future benefits of all members of the scheme, regardless of age or length of service.Read more here.Trade union leaders have warned St Helens glassmaker Pilkington that staff are prepared to strike over changes to their company pension.
