The 9th edition showcased the latest & cutting edge global products and best practices for the glass processing, glazing & fenestration industries.

Mumbai, XX December 2011: Zak Group hosted the 9th edition of Zak Glass Technology Expo from the 8th to 11th December 2011 at MMRDA Exhibition Center, Mumbai. Be it recession or recovery, growth or stagnation; our strategies need to be focused on doing things fundamentally right and strong.  The way the Indian market is evolving today, there is need to create substantial differentiation through innovation. Innovation can help reduce costs, increase efficiencies and create a better lining environment. The event aimed to highlight the multifaceted innovative glass processing solutions that are now available for the Indian glass industry, which will add a positive thrust and impetus to the nation’s development in the real estate and automotive markets. The expo met with a highly favorable response, seeing an influx of visitors at the exhibition witnessing a total of 20,600 footfalls over its four-day period.



Commenting on this achievement, Mr. Syed Ahad Ahmed, Director of the Expo said, “We are extremely pleased with the reception of our expo this year. The Indian glass market was going through a lull period over the past few months, but after the expo, the industry is looking up to happier days. Glass dealers are now investing in glass processing technology while the bigger & established glass processors are upgrading to high-end technology and window fabrication. We are proud to say that many new glass processors were created from this exhibition, which is a great achievement for the Indian glass industry. This is apart from the current processors upgrading their technologies”.



The expo was held concurrently with the 8th edition of Zak Doors & Windows Expo, which is India’s largest forum on Fenestration and the 3rd Zak Aluminium Extrusions Expo, which is the only kindly of its expo globally focusing on Aluminium Extrusions for Curtain Wall fabrication. The cross pollination of visitors was also one of the key highlights of this edition.



He also quoted “Glass and fenestration play a key role in sustainable architecture. The expo was an ideal platform for those looking to be abreast with the latest solutions & technologies to help build a sustainable future. As of today, India has approximately 450 million sq ft of green and sustainable building space and various bodies such as the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) & The Energy & Resource Institute (TERI) have articulated that within two years by 2012 the country should have a total of 1.2 billion sq. ft.  The technologies and solutions highlighted at the expo coupled with the practical knowledge sharing during the seminar sessions, provided the glass processors to create more sustainable, improved and environmentally friendly products for urban environments across all sectors like commercial, hospitality, healthcare, IT, etc. The next edition will be held in New Delhi from 14-16 December 2012.”



Ar. Hafeez Contractor who is one of the leading architects of India inaugurated the expo.



The show attracted around 300 participating brands from around 22 countries that represented the latest trends for the industry development & was an important place for the India glass industry.



Leading European glass processing giants such as Bystronic, Bottero, Lisec, Benteler, Hegla, Glasston, Glasstech etc were key exhibitors along with top bonding players such as 3M, Dow Corning, GE Sealants, Wacker, Sika, etc. There was also a good presence of top Chinese players such as North Glass, Land Glass, Mingte Glass, Yuntong Glass, etc. Turkey’s CMS Makina & Optimac were also present in a big way. The top Indian glass processors & dealers were also a part of this mega event.



There were products, solutions & technologies on display for Glass production, processing, finishing, products, applications, façade elements along with auxiliary products such as fittings, tools, hardware, sealants, tapes, films, coatings, software, publications, etc.
