The leading façade engineering consultancy group, Wintech, have sold their Shropshire-based division, Wintech Testing and Certification, in order to focus solely on the increasingly complex and demanding world of building envelope design and consultancy.

Wintech Consultancy will remain unaffected by the above change in ownership, having established themselves over their 35-year lifespan as the leading brand in façade engineering consultancy, being seen as a safe set of hands by clients within the construction industry in a time that is deeply troubled by recent tragic events.

Wintech Consultancy continue to grow in terms of expertise and breadth of façade engineering design and consultancy services but have long felt that testing is a distraction to their core activity when there is a requirement by accreditation authorities to have an unequivocal separation between consultancy and testing disciplines.

Group CEO, Chris Macey, said “Wintech Testing and Certification was operating in a very competitive sector and represented a small element of group turnover. The business needed to change to maintain its Notified Body status and to achieve this would be better positioned in a group of companies that focus on testing and accreditation services and leave Wintech Consultancy free to further invest in its core activity”.

Wintech consultancy will maintain its well-known brand with all work being unaffected by this change, continuing to support major construction projects by reducing risk and cost and improving the quality of the building envelope; an increasingly expensive and complex aspect of a building’s construction.

Wintech Testing and Certification was acquired by Underwriters Laboratories of the United States.
