Visteon Corporation Joins Newly Formed Suppliers Partnership for the Environment

Visteon Corporation (NYSE: VC) is joining General Motors and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in the newly organized Suppliers Partnership for the Environment.

This innovative partnership is intended to increase the business performance of companies in the automobile industry while reducing environmental impacts.SP will be a new forum for large, medium and small service and product vendors to develop and share knowledge and best practices.

"Through task forces and work groups, the organization will provide technical assistance to ensure processes and products provide environmental improvements and costs savings," said Steve Hellem, executive director of the SP. "We'll address issues like materials use optimization, energy efficiency, training, education and sustainability."

Gary Mayo, director of Visteon's office of Corporate Social Responsibility, is a member of the SP Board of Directors and will be spearheading the effort to align SP with other organizations that are targeting environmental issues.

"There are organizations in existence who are proactively defining the impacts of recent environmental legislation and assisting with the development of sustainable business strategies," Mayo said. "The Suppliers Partnership for the Environment will work collaboratively with those organizations to define opportunities and identify how SP can help address them."

Visteon will also take an active role in participating in SP-led task forces and work groups that will help guide Tier Two and Tier Three suppliers toward environmental process improvement.

"Through SP we will be working with suppliers to provide them with information and guidance to learn more about environmental certification processes," Mayo said. "This will help improve their operations, which will have a positive environmental impact on Visteon's business and on our industry as a whole."
