Vetrotech Saint-Gobain's New Keralite® Select Fire-Rated Glass Ceramic Provides Sharper, Truer Color Viewing

Patent-pending surface polishing technology results in brilliant clarity. (Auburn, Wash.) – Vetrotech Saint-Gobain, a leading manufacturer of fire-resistant glass products, has added a new, innovative glass ceramic to its Keralite product line.

Following extensive research and development, Keralite Select combines patent-pending surface polishing technology with advanced composition to create the sharpest, most accurate color-viewing glass ceramic in its class.Keralite Select boasts a color-rendering index of 97.1 (out of 100), the highest R96a value for glass ceramics. It also has the lowest haze value at 0.5% available and bears no cloudy appearance even in variable lighting conditions. Comparable to float glass in quality, the surface doesn’t have the “orange peel effect” common to standard fire-rated glass ceramics.

"We are pleased to offer Keralite Select to our architectural and glazing partners as a superior fire-rated glass ceramic ideal for their commercial projects,” said Christian Mueller, general manager of Vetrotech Saint-Gobain. “Our newest innovation provides the safety and security you expect from the Keralite brand along with unprecedented clarity and aesthetics previously unattainable in the industry.”

Manufactured in both 3/16” (Keralite Select F) and 5/16” (Keralite Select L) thicknesses, Keralite Select is recommended for larger glass sizes in impact-rated areas where superior clarity and sharpness is desired. The glass, which installs into standard fire-rated frames and doors, comes in 20-, 45-, 60-, 90- and 180-minute fire-ratings.
