Two-billionth bottle for Italy's San Benedetto

Date: 18 June 2013

1975 – 2013: 38 years of loyalty to Vetropack Straza     We have long known that business is made out of mutual interests.

But the past and present shared by the Vetropack Straža glass factory and our Italian customer San Benedetto best shows that people and their mutual relations are the crucial factor in making business decisions and in selecting business partners.

Therefore at the celebration of the production of the two-billionth bottle for San Benedetto, held at Vetropack Straža on 7 June, in addition to the representatives of our most loyal foreign customer, we also invited the former directors and sales managers of the glass factory. They began and developed this story, somewhat unusual in today's business conditions, which has long since surpassed a business level.

The cooperation between San Benedetto from Scorze, a well known Italian manufacturer of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and the Straža glass factory began back in 1975 with the signing of an agreement in Trieste for the supply of 4 million bottles. The quantities increased over the years, and from 1995 to 1997 totalled almost 110 million bottles per year.

What Vetropack Straža particularly appreciates and what we are tremendously grateful for is the attitude of our Italian customers towards our company during the Homeland War, when the glass factory was on the brink of bankruptcy due to the loss of its markets. In such difficult times, in which it often seemed that we were left all alone, every show of support we received (both at Vetropack Straža and in Croatia) from the world was immensely important. Therefore, at Straža, we will always sincerely appreciate and remember their loyalty and correct stance towards us. Today, 7-8% of our annual sales are supplied to this, our most loyal customer.

The celebration was truly touching, with many people reuniting after a long time, some for more than 30 years. Upon giving a gift to San Benedetto owner, Mr. Zoppas, Director Premužak said, “I am convinced that this is not the end to our success story. On the contrary, let it be an incentive and reminder to us all gathered here, to continue, and so that in 15 - 20 years time we can again come together to celebrate the three-billionth bottle that Vetropack Straža manufactures for San Benedetto.”
