Freefoam Plastics, a leading manufacturer of a wide range of innovative products for the building industry in Ireland, the UK and Mainland Europe, is delighted to announce the use of recycled materials in the Freeflow rainwater range.

Responding to increasing customer demand for more sustainable products and our long term commitment to smarter environmental manufacturing practices Freefoam now produces rainwater downpipes with an inner core of up to 75% recycled material. The co – extrusion allows for the external skin to be manufactured with virgin PVC and the internal core to be created with a distinctive grey appearance using post production recycled material. Geoff Barnett, production manager explains the benefits of this approach “Using recycled material makes perfect sense for Freefoam as our co-extrusion process allows us flexibility. We know that when reprocessed correctly post production material is just as good as virgin material and manufacturing products from recycled material means we make considerable energy savings”

Freeflow rainwater system is available in square line, half round, ogee and deep style with each system co-extruded with a white interior and a range of exterior colours – Freefoam’s innovative solution to the problems associated with rapid heat absorption and expansion of gutters. It has been designed for reliable, leak-free performance and quick installation. Freeflow products come in a range of standard colours including white, black and brown and caramel, with an impressive 30 year guarantee on the white range and 10 year guarantee of the coloured range.

Colin St John, UK General Manager, comments: “This product is a perfect illustration of our commitment to both the environment and to product quality. For us using sustainable materials is an integral part of our operation but it must not compromise our standards. The use of both recycled and virgin material allows us to offer a truly sustainable solution minimising environmental impact without compromising product performance, strength and reliability”
