Sika Corporation, Target Market Industry, Aftermarket announces new technology rollouts at Auto Glass Week

Date: 7 October 2014

Sika Corporation, leader in the U.S. Auto Glass Replacement (AGR) adhesives industry announces multiple new product introductions to be featured at the 2014 Auto Glass Week in Baltimore, MD.

October 7-9.  As the Pioneer in Safe-Drive-Away-Time (SDAT) modeling, and as proven through physical crash testing, Sika announces the introduction of two new AGR adhesive products; SikaTack® MACH 30, a cold-applied product published with a 30 minute SDAT and SikaTack® MACH 60, an improved one hour cold-applied SDAT product.   These new products continue Sika’s long established SikaTack® heritage in the AGR market.  They also continue the well driven High Road to Safety, which includes many Industry firsts; Black Primerless to glass applications, single-use-applicator pre-treatment stix and pads, all-inclusive installer friendly Super Kits, and the first to market a one-component one hour SDAT product.

Additionally, the SDAT for the technology leading SikaTack® ASAP+, an all-in-one modulus, non-conductive, hot-applied urethane moves to the 30 minute SDAT category.  All products exceed FMVSS requirements.

Sika also announces the introduction of the “Easy Prep System” with options, a triad of products for vehicle prep.  Sika introduces Sika® Primer-207, a One Step All-in-One primer that simplifies, if desired by the applicator, the use of multiple products for surface treatment of pinchwelds, encapsulated parts and glass. Coupled with Sika® PowerClean Aid, a unique and patented Sika innovation for the removal of Non-traditional Contaminants (NTC’s) that eliminates messy pastes and abrasive pads, and Sika® CleanGlass, a liquid Glass Cleaner product that performs excellent at low temperatures, the “Easy Prep System” with options illustrates again, a Sika customer focused approach to simplify AGR installations in the field.

Further, Sika also announces product packaging modifications that introduce leading edge sustainability options; urethane unipack products packaged in 465ml fill volumes. The unipack concept allows for a self-compressing foil that when fully dispensed takes up less than a tenth the cubic space required of an aluminum cartridge in disposal methods.  Additionally, the 465ml material content in the unipack covers more than 95% of the standard vehicle windshield installs required in the market, eliminating partial unipacks that end up in many cases as waste. The 465ml package is also lighter allowing for better ergonomics of the applicator gun during urethane application.  “We anticipate much excitement surrounding our newly released initiatives”, says Marius Mavrodin, Senior Vice President, Aftermarket. “The Industry spoke, we listened, and we are proud to answer the call again with highly innovative products and practices contributing to ease and efficiency in day to day installation practices”.
