Saint-Gobain Abrasives Receives the Customer Focused Quality Supplier Award From W.W. Grainger

Date: 26 May 2003

Each year, W.W. Grainger, Inc. confers upon its top performing suppliers their highest honor, the CFQ1(Customer Focused Quality) Award.

The CFQ1 Award is presented to a select group of suppliers out of the thousands of top-quality companies Grainger works with worldwide. For 2002, only 26 suppliers were selected as having achieved the level of performance required to earn Grainger's top award. Saint-Gobain Abrasives has been named a recipient of this award for the second consecutive year, and is the only abrasives supplier to achieve this recognition.

The significance of this award is made even greater by the stringent qualifications Grainger sets as the standard of excellence for their suppliers. Achieving this honor, either for the first time or as a repeat winner, requires a very high level of performance.

When determining which suppliers deserve CFQ1 recognition, performance evaluations are based on criteria including cost improvements, delivery, quality, product information, management commitment, and responsiveness. To make the final cut, suppliers must have attained a level of performance satisfying Grainger's stringent requirements in all these areas. Only then does Grainger present the prestigious CFQ1 Award.

John Slayton, Grainger's Senior Vice President, Merchandising stated "Last year marked another year of record growth, increased customer satisfaction and overall success for Grainger. Your efforts as a CFQ1 honoree helped make this level of achievement possible. Because your company demonstrated exemplary performance and supported our efforts fully, Grainger was able to delight even more customers than ever before."
