Located in East Riding, Yorkshire, this £22 million new school has been a significant development creating a new, fresh learning place for 1,500 young people.
This project included consolidating Wolfreton Secondary School and Sixth Form College into one site in Willerby.
Having both schools on one site meant that Wolfreton could achieve outstanding standards of learning, and state-of-the-art facilities and opportunities every day for older pupils to act as role models for younger children.
Use of natural light was critical to create a well planned learning environment that felt inspiring.
BAM Construction Limited – North East have undertaken substantial research into creating modern learning spaces.
When a child is taught in a bright and ventilated environment, their ability to gather and process information vastly improves. When children are taught in an environment where daylight is preserved their activity level is known to increase.
33 Sections of VELUX Modular Longlights were used throughout the buildings on Wolfreton High School, which were all positioned at a subtle 5 degree pitch for a light, airy atmosphere.
The New High School represents a radical change for Wolfreton, which now consists of:
- Three storey school with theatre and sports hall
- Specialist facilities for Art, Music, Science and Technology
- Sports pitches, hard courts, floodlit artificial grass pitch and landscaped areas
- Car park and better access for vehicles
“We are delighted with the VMS Products installed by Roofglaze on our Hull Schools. Their considered design and finish allowed for swift and safe installation. This was one of our first experiences of VMS and the support of Roofglaze was invaluable here.”
