The solution that Roofglaze proposed for this project was 6 No. bespoke Vitral A74 Dualpitch self-supporting rooflights, with a 25o pitch and glazed gable ends.

Blum is a global producer of fittings solutions for domestic furniture, primarily for new kitchens. When their UK Head Office was in need of an improved daylighting solution, a bespoke Vitral rooflight array designed and installed by Roofglaze was the natural choice.

According to their own website, Blum aims to provide a “mesmerising experience and enhanced user convenience” to all those that use their products. Roofglaze was keen to make sure that the employees of the Blum UK office would have the same feelings about their new rooflights.

With natural daylight having been proven as something that is massively beneficial when it comes to employee morale and performance, Roofglaze was as confident as always of being able to deliver a solution that would be more than satisfactory for the end-client.

The solution that Roofglaze proposed for this project was 6 No. bespoke Vitral A74 Dualpitch self-supporting rooflights, with a 25o pitch and glazed gable ends. Each pane of glass on these skylights was double glazed, with hermetically sealed units.

These units were comprised of a 6mm Guardian HS SN 62/34 high-performance solar control toughened outer; over a 6.8mm clear laminated super ‘Low-E’ inner, with 18mm Argon-filled cavities and warm edge spacers in between the two layers of glass.

The specification of these rooflights ensures that the users of this building are comfortable, and will ultimately benefit from the thermal performance values that these units have to offer:

  • Centre pane U-value: 1.1 W/m2K
  • Total product U-value: 1.55 W/m2K
  • Light transmission: 60%
  • G-value: 35%
