Poly International Plaza is a three-tower complex located in a new business district in Beijing. The design of the main tower is inspired by Chinese paper lanterns, with an exterior that forms a continuous diagrid pattern.
The exoskeleton structural system forms an outer thermal envelope around the office spaces, which are enclosed within a second glazed interior envelope. This creates daylit communal areas that foster social interaction and establish connections between floors.
The design of 350 Mission, a LEED® Platinum-certified office building in downtown San Francisco, is driven not only by rigorous environmental performance goals, but also by the desire to stimulate social engagement.
In generating the tower's form, structure, and building systems, SOM reexamined standards long taken for granted by developers in order to reinvent a ubiquitous building type. 350 Mission contributes to the life of its immediate surroundings with a transparent 50-foot-tall lobby that opens up to the street.
