Pilkington will shut Aintree glass site

Glass giant Pilkington is to close its factory site in Aintree next month, with the loss of 51 jobs.The roof-glazing factory will shut the Aintree Racecourse business park site next month, leaving its employees – some of whom have been there 13 years – with only weeks to find new jobs.

Nippon Sheet Glass group, who own St Helens-based Pilkington, will also close a Basingstoke site this February, with the loss of another 41 workers.The group employs some 1,600 people across its local sites in St Helens and Ormskirk.Read more here.Glass giant Pilkington is to close its factory site in Aintree next month, with the loss of 51 jobs.
