Saint-Gobain Glass UK Ltd has announced the appointment of Andy Hyde as Sales & Marketing Director, heading the company’s sales and marketing teams and reporting to UK Managing Director Pierre Lucien-Brun. Based at the Eggborough, Yorkshire float plant Andy brings with him almost 20 years of sales, marketing and specification marketing experience in building products. His former roles were with British Gypsum and more recently insulation manufacturer Isover, both part of the Saint-Gobain Group.

Andy’s appointment is expected to bring additional strengths and focus to the SGG UK sales operation, with the company recently stepping up its emphasis on commercial specification. Continuing TV advertising support for Planitherm ensures that Andy’s portfolio is diverse and challenging.

“The glass industry is similar to the markets I was previously involved with for being close knit and gregarious. But the major difference is that SGG UK has a far wider customer base, far more fragmented and diverse,” said Andy. “We face big changes in the market and greater competition which means we must continue to sharpen our game though product development and improved customer user satisfaction, to take advantage of the lead we have enjoyed by installing our coater years ahead of our competitors in the UK. Planning for the ‘new normal’ is the challenge ahead.”

Originally from Leeds Andy is married with a son and a daughter. He lists, somewhat apologetically, Leeds United Football Club, together with swimming and avoidance of golf as his passions outside of business.
