There’s a new light rail station in town, and it’s anything but ordinary. Incredibly, it took less than two years to construct and boasts a unique curved glass and steel canopy.

The Hague’s new train station stands apart architecturally inside and out- it’s truly a masterpiece worth traveling throughout.

Where can you travel to and from?

The new light rail station links The Hague, a renowned city of the western Netherlands, and Rotterdam, a port city in South Holland known for its modern architecture developed after WWII.

It’s slender, therefore it doesn’t take up a ton of room or impact its surroundings, and its location above ground level allows for traffic to flow underneath it. The first train left from the newly constructed station on Monday, August 22.

Who designed and built it?

So, who are the masterminds behind this unique curved glass rail station? The train station was designed by ZJA Zwarts & Jansma Architects, a Dutch architectural firm established in 1990 by Moshé Zwarts and Rein Jansma.

BAM constructed the new station from the ground up. They’ve been the leader of construction services throughout the UK since the 1870’s.

Highlights of this incredible station include the detailed work and intricate architectural designs, including the curved glass and steel canopy. It boasts a modern, 21st century appearance with none other than curved glass! You’re sure to enjoy the inside just as much as the outside.

Speaking of curved glass, Bent Glass Design work with all different styles of this material. We’ve designed custom architectural glass that’s anything but ordinary and would love to help with your proposed residential or commercial project!
