Maple’s strong connections to the further education sector continue with a completed project at the University of Northampton.

The entire university has been relocated from various sites around the city to the purpose-built Waterside Campus. The £300m development includes academic buildings, student accommodation, commercial outlets and leisure facilities.

At its heart is the Senate Building, the university’s research and management centre ― and the building most visitors will see first.

Inside, it will be the place for guest lectures, exhibitions and events ― outside, it features some of Maple’s most striking work.

Visualised by architects CPMG, we manufactured and installed a solar screening system with perforated panels. The system, which incorporates horizontal steel box constructions on vertical aluminium rails, will control 'solar gain' and help ensure a comfortable environment for students, staff and visitors.

Vice Chancellor Professor Nick Petford said: “Over the past 18 months, progress has been considerable by all of our contractors and their representatives and I would like to formally thank them for their efforts.”
