Central Glass Co. said it will liquidate a South Korean joint venture that makes glass substrates for plasma display panels.

The major Japanese glass maker decided on the move because of the low-profitability of the joint company, Display Glass Alliance.

Display Glass Alliance, capitalized at 10 billion won, was set up in June 2005. Central Glass owns 40 pct of the company, and South Korea's Hankuk Glass Industries and France's Saint-Goba each own 30 pct.
