The Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has announced the finalist projects of the CTBUH 2018 Awards.

Among them, there are 6 Permasteelisa Group projects, witnessing the Group’s constant ability to design and build innovative and avant-garde architectural works alongside the world’s greatest in contemporary architecture, by using advanced technology and eco-sustainable solutions.

The awards will be assigned during the 2018 Tall + Urban Innovation Conference, to be held on 30-31 May 2018 in Chicago.

 

Best Tall Building:

150 North Riverside, Chicago
The building design includes a number of sustainable elements designed to maximize energy efficiency and provide ample natural light and open spaces on the interior. The project also achieved LEED Gold certification in 2017

 

Europe:

Paris Courthouse, Paris
Located on the northeastern edge of Paris, Paris Courthouse is part of a larger plan for the revitalization of the Clichy-Batignolles neighborhood.

The façades, which incorporate photovoltaic panels, are fully glazed and offer a high level of natural lighting to the heart of the building; furthermore and external lift with panoramic views climbs a fissure on the eastern façade that captures the morning light.

 

Construction Award Finalist:

The EY Centre (200 George Street), Sydney 
A landmark building amidst its plain-looking neighbors. The play of warm soft light reflecting off and into the 37-stories has been made possible by the building’s façade, a state-of-the-art high-transparency glass skin whose double-glazed cavity contains motorized timber venetian blinds that adjust automatically with the changing angle of the sun’s rays.

 

10 Year Award (2007 Completions): 
Manchester Civil Justice Center, Manchester This 16-story courthouse - situated in the “Spinningfields” area in the Manchester city center - is approximately 81 m high and is clad with 5 different types of curtain wall covering over 31,000 sqm (333,700 sq ft).

San Francisco Federal Building, San Francisco The 18-story federal building located in downtown San Francisco has approximately 7,500 stainless steel sunshade panels.

 

10 Year Award (2008 Completions):

Shanghai World Financial Center, Shanghai 
The curtain wall system of this 101-story project is designed to accommodate future glass replacement and cleaning as the mullion-and-transom frame’s form and cover can be removed from the inside.

The CTBUH Awards recognize projects that have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of tall buildings and the urban environment, and that achieve sustainability at the highest and broadest level.

The objective of this awards program is to deliver a comprehensive and sophisticated view of these important buildings while advocating for improvements in every aspect of their performance, especially those that have the greatest effect on the people who use these buildings each day.

 

The CTBUH Awards recognize projects that have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of tall buildings and the urban environment, and that achieve sustainability at the highest and broadest level.

The objective of this awards program is to deliver a comprehensive and sophisticated view of these important buildings while advocating for improvements in every aspect of their performance, especially those that have the greatest effect on the people who use these buildings each day.
